TRAIN YOUR BEST FRIEND!

Your dog needs to know the rules of the house in order to become part of the family circle and to bond with its master.

Dogs by nature are pack animals with a well defined social order. When you train your dog, you assume the alpha role (pack leader) as the dog's master. It is not cruel to train a dog. It is actually unkind to deprive it of the discipline it would receive from its pack leader.

Every dog is different. Some are hyperactive, others laid back. A few are shy and need more self confidence, while others are overconfident. Some are silly and or may have common behavior problems such as jumping up on people, digging, barking, chewing, mouthing, etc.

Learning the basic commands sit, stand. down, walk at heel on leash, come and stay are essential for any dog to become an enjoyable, well mannered companion.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN® CERTIFICATION TEST

GOLDEN VALLEY KENNEL CLUB offers Canine Good Citizen® Certificates annually. See the EVENTS PAGE for time and date of the next certification test.

The CGC is for all dogs, purebred and mixed breeds. It is a one time pass/fail set of ten tests demonstrating confidence and control. This test of your dog's manners and training is not a competition, and does not require that you and you dog perform with precision.

All dogs passing the test are awarded a certificate from the American Kennel Club stating
they are a
"Canine Good Citizen".
